EXO Planet is a fan project created to celebrate EXO's upcoming 10 year anniversary.

As April 8th 2022 approaches, we have decided to gather all the amazing artists and writers in our community to put together this zine and showcase everyone's talents and love for exo.

A lot can happen in 10 years and exo has never stopped to amaze us with their comebacks and concepts, that's why this zine will be centered around exo's career through their different eras.

Get inspired by their music videos, live performances, teasers and photoshoots and get ready to join us in this celebration!

FAQ

What is a Fanzine?
A fanzine or zine is a fan-book similar to a magazine that includes fan-made content around a specific theme for a specific fandom. Content can vary from photoshoots, collage, graphic design, artworks to written stories.
.

How much will the zine cost?
This zine will be free and available for everyone to download from our account once it’s published. However, the zine and its content may not be reproduced for commercial purposes.
.

When will the zine be released?
The zine will be released on April 6 2022, a few days prior to exo’s anniversary. That way people will be able to appreciate the zine as a whole, before contributors start posting their works on their social media on April 8.
.

Can I apply to be a page artist and a writer?
Yes! Contributors are welcome to apply for multiple positions, just be aware you may only be accepted to fill one position
.

Does the submission have to be new?
Yes! We ask you to create a new piece that has not been published before.
.

For artists, are we allowed to create a short comic for the zine?
Yes! A comic-style piece would be a lovely addition to the zine. Please bear in mind that it would have to fit a single-page or a spread (two opposite pages) and not be longer than that.
.

Will you edit my submission when proofreading?
The feedback provided during the process will mainly focus on grammar, spelling, etc. The only time moderators will have a say in your content will be if there's something that isn't within the zine guidelines.
.

Can I post previews?
We will have a preview period where contributors will be able to give a sneak peek of their work before the actual release date. Until then, please keep your work in progress a secret.
.

Will contributors be allowed to post their work on fanfiction websites and social media later?
Yes, posting on social media and fanfiction websites such as AO3, Asianfanfics, etc., will definitely be allowed after the project has been fulfilled.
.

What if I need to drop out?
If you need to drop out, please contact us immediately through social media or email.

GUIDELINES

Below are the guidelines and requirements to keep in mind when deciding how to work on your art or fanfic. For questions, clarifications or suggestions, please feel free to DM us on twitter, send us an email or a message through curiouscat.
.

THEME
Exo through their eras. Get Inspired by their mv, concepts, promotional teasers, photoshoots, etc.! The zine will be divided in sections corresponding to each year they’ve been active.
.

CONTENT
This zine is OT9. However previous members (excluding kris wu) can make an appearance if you’re working on their early eras. Since this zine's goal is to highlight Exo's relationship as a group, each contribution should include at least 4 members (the more, the merrier!)
.

RATING
This will be a SFW zine. All work will be for the consumption of the general public, with a PG-13 maximum rating (between General Audiences and Mature on AO3). Think of the ratings as encasing content that we might regularly see in official EXO releases (for example, the violence in Monster MV, the “drugs” in KoKoBop MV).

In addition, sexually explicit content as a whole is forbidden in the zine, as are regularly banned topics, such as pedophilia, incest, dub-con/non-con, even if the story is rated mature for other reasons.
.

SHIPS
We would like to focus on platonic relationships and avoid pieces that center too strongly on romantic relationships. However, it is acceptable to have implied romantic ships so long as they do not take center stage in your work.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

We will provide a list with all of exo’s mv in the application form. There you'll be able to pick in which era you would like to work — whether you draw inspiration from the music video itself or other related content is up to you.

However, to ensure that there won’t be too much overlap of concepts in the zine, we’ll ask you to pick three eras of your preference. We will do our best to assign everyone their preferred concept.

You can also pitch your ideas to us if you want.

WORK SAMPLE
We will ask you to submit a work sample in the application form. Share with us those works you’re most proud of!

For artists: two or three works, one with background (if possible), at least one needs to be exo fanart
For writers: an exo fic, one shot, max 10k
.

COLLABORATIONS
Collaborations between contributors are allowed. Let us know in the application form or after the application period via email. Keep in mind that each contributor should still fill the form and provide a work sample.

ARTIST GUIDELINES

Canvas: A4 portrait or landscape
Resolution: 300dpi

If you work in a traditional medium, you can send us a high quality scan with the previously mentioned requirements.

WRITER GUIDELINES

Min work length: 1000 words
Max work length: 4000 words
